Fonts are everywhere. We see them on TV, in magazines, on the internet, and all around us in the physical world. But have you ever stopped to think about where fonts come from? And I'm not just talking about the digital fonts that we use today on our computers. I'm talking about the actual, physical letters that were used centuries ago before the printing press was invented.
It's hard to say for certain where fonts first originated, but it's safe to say that they've been around for centuries - possibly even millennia. The first known example of a font is from an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics inscription from around 3200 BC. But it wasn't until Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press in the 15th century that fonts really started to take off.
